re BORG & BECK CLUTCHES. - 25/30. BB.252.
Bentley BB.242.

We have been looking into the above clutches owing to complaints we have received from our fitters.

On investigation we find the following faults.

The grinding of the pressure plates is very bad and when checked up to a surface plate the bedding is very poor. In some cases it is possible to insert a .003" feeler between the faces of the pressure plate and surface plates.

The spring driven centre plate when checked up between centres is running out as much as .050". Of six plates which were tested the best one was running out .025".

Will Mr.Chandler please acquaint the makers of these errors and will Mr.Goodall please arrange to have these parts inspected and correct where necessary.

It seems necessary for Mr.Mosedale to instruct his fitter to reset all the centre plates so as to get them within a limit of .010".
