[Upside-down text at top] CERTIFICATE AND INSPECTION OF ROLLS-ROYCE ENGINES AND SPARES [Handwritten] X.7770 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/LG19.2.27. 14-EX CAR. The body for this chassis will be ready in a weeks time. We would therefore like you to give the following items attention. (1) Fit stiffeners to rear drums. (These we believe are ready). (2) Examine steering box which has developed a considerable oil leak. (3) Improve piston bedding to overcome knocks and fit new rings to reduce over-oiling. (4) Fit return spring to magneto. (D.O. should give you arrangement on Monday). (5) Fit stop on equalising lever - front equalising shaft. (Should be detailed Monday by D.O.) In addition the following parts should be fitted as soon as possible. (a) Torque control. (b) New type front axle (drilled for damper). (c) New type coupling. The new coupling is apparently a question for the D.O. When it is finally fitted the question of oil leaks from the gearbox should be investigated as these for some obscure reason are considerably worse than standard. The steering test with the two experimental dumbirons will possibly be able to be completed before the torque control axle is ready.
