Hanbury - Head Complaints} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} West, Esq., Messrs.Rolls Royce Ld, DERBY. Dear Mr.West, Confirming 'phone conversation of this afternoon, I am arranging for Mr.Manwaring to call upon you on Tuesday afternoon next as requested. Meantime, I understand that the object of this visit is to discuss the question of combined instrument designs. Regarding your request for a quotation for altering any stock of instruments on hand with the dial to read the reverse way, I have discussed this matter with Mr.Buckland and, whilst he is arranging to investigate it immediately, he explained that he is afraid it is impossible to effect the modification as it means new instrument cases and drastic alterations to the movement. However, I will write you again when I have his further news. Mirror-Clock: Whilst this is extremely neat, as explained, due to the confined area of the bulb arrangement it is very difficult to effectively illuminate the whole of the clock dial area. Essex Terraplane instrument: I believe we have inspected a similar design but, just in case we have not, perhaps you will very kindly loan us the sample that you have on hand. Yours very truly, [Signature] P.T.O. | ||
