To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c.c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. Myth Engine. 2.5 Bore x 3.937 Stroke. Please receive herewith the following designs - (1) PL.318 Oil Pump & Sump. fitted with a floating oil intake (2) PL.324 Gasket & Cylinder Block Facing. This drawing shows the water ways, hot spot outlet and the supply of oil to the rocker shaft. (3) PL.325 Cylinder Head & Block. (4) PL.326 Removal of piston and rods. Since the rod cannot be passed through the cylinder bore the designs have been made so that the piston and rod can be withdrawn from the bottom of the crankcase. To do this the crankshaft must be put in the correct relative position and then rotated as the rod is moved downwards. The drawing shows the method in three stages. (5) PL.327 Distributor fixing and rocker cover. The oil filler is positioned at the front of the cover as this seems to be the only place where it will be accessible because at the middle we have the distributor head and towards the rear we shall probably put the carburetter air silencer. (6) PL.328 Compression Space. This is an accurate calculation for the cylinder combustion chamber and should be worked to in conjunction with PL.325. We have chosen 7 - 1 ratio. (7) PL.329 Inlet and Exhaust Valve Mechanism. This drawing shows the geometry for the inlet rocker pad and ball lever. The tappets, valves, valve springs and rockers, are shown twice full size in order to establish P.T.O. | ||
