AWD/BR/2 4th November, 1938 Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of Order Office. FLOW TESTING OF RADIATOR MATRICES. Dear Sirs, We beg to refer to a letter from Mr. Steadman of your Experimental Department dated 6th ult. in connection with the above. We have now been able to check the flow on six Wraith Units E.W.1161 with the bottom tank removed, and the average figure is 48 gallons per minute with a standard 7 ft. head, and we suggest this figure be added to the drawing. It is, therefore now, agreed that we shall test one matrix in 20 by removing the bottom tank, gauging the water ways, flow testing and refitting the tank to the block. Matrix units so tested will then be marked by means of a small brass disk which will be sweated to the bottom tank with the letter "M" stamped on. You in turn will also test one matrix in 20 in a similar manner, thus giving a check test, in effect, of one in ten. We shall keep a record of the test results for your perusal at any time. We agree the cost of the above work shall be borne by us. We trust the above clears this question and assure you of our best attention. Yours faithfully, | ||
