EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} has reported that the best sprung American car he tried when he was in American was fitted with Gabriel snub-bers. These are fitted to the 12-cylinder Packard Car. We have taken one of these off this car and have sent it to Mr. Royce for him to examine. We have tried the Packard car with and without these shock absorbers connected. Over the average roads round the works we can notice no marked difference with these fitted. We anticipate, however, that the friction between the leaves of the springs on the Packard Car is now excessive as the springs have not been greased since we have had the car.

A point which rather appears to us with these snubbers is the fact that there are no ball joints to wear and rattle and to lubricate. We know from experience that shock absorber connections are the worst things on a car to wear. As soon as they wear slack they make a noise.
