BENTLEY EXHAUST VALVES.

In reply to your memo. FH/HP26532.

Firstly, I agree that it is highly desirable to group the exhaust pipes into two lots of three cylinders, the original Silver Ghost way.

Secondly, regarding the cylinder head, my first choice would have been 'B' in your sketch if it were possible to bring out the two central exhausts separately, but I assume there is insufficient room between the cylinder head.

My second choice is 'D' in your sketch because it is symmetrical, but it is quite possible that 'C' is nearly equally good.

Assuming therefore 'B' to be impossible, I leave it to you to find out whether 'D' or 'C' suits the rest of the engine better.

P.S. On the telephone this afternoon E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} says he is sending another arrangement to choose from. Anyway a move for the purpose seems necessary, and I have suggested that it would be quite worth while to have two patterns made for test.
