(6) With the make ratio of the distributor altered to .55 the coil shall be run for 5 hours at a voltage of 17.5 under similar standard conditions as before, and the secondary resistance again measured immediately after the run, and the temperature of the coil calculated as in (5) above. Also note the primary current at the conclusion of the run.

(7) The coil H.T. supply shall now be connected to a standard leaky gap (as specified for magneto work) and the speed limits for satisfactory operation noted (the distributor make ratio as above and standard ballast in series).

(8) Ascertain the primary current consumption at 12 volts with varying speeds of the distributor (std. ballast in series and .55 make ratio).

(9) The coil shall now be heated in a dry atmosphere at varying temperatures up to 100°C and cooled down again to atmospheric temperature, and the performance on a variable subsidiary spark gap noted for each temperature.

(10) An endurance test of 500 hours duration shall be carried out on the coil at 17.5 volts at normal speed on the standard rig.

(11) The coil shall then be removed from its case and the windings examined, if considered necessary, or the coil placed on an experimental chassis for a mileage test under chassis conditions.
