1245 To: "Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}". PARIS Sr2I/Dn.14.I.38. chassis 3 AZ 20. As regards your telegram, you may be surprised to hear we have not fitted the conrods to our chassis 3 AZ 20, and our reason for not doing so is that first of all after the A.C.2 troubles, we hesitated, until first having written to you, Your Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}I/MH.{M. Huckerby}81237 however, gave us the O.K. on these conrods, but since this date, owing to the small mileages, actually being run on 3 AZ 20, we have been attempting to get in a customer's car that is fairly severely "batted" and covers rather quickly big mileages, but without success. Had we been able to get this car we had in mind, we would, undoubtedly, have put in these conrods. If you will instruct us to put these conrods into our demonstration car, and run the car to gather information on the conrod question, we will certainly do so, and can promise you that it will not take us very long to run up a mileage, but we shall have to make a point of running the car for this purpose quite apart from running it for our commercial use. In other words, this car is not called upon, at this time of the year, to carry out long demonstration runs, as it is called upon to do in the Spring and Summer seasons. Sr h | ||
