X.995 - INSTRUCTION BOOK.

I have received back from CJ., copy of proof of Electrical Appendix to Instruction Book matter, which you sent to him under your W2/CK{Mr Clark}9/6/20. This has been gone through by Mr. Northey with the following result :-

(a) It was agreed at the conference yesterday that in the first paragraph of all, the manufacturers names and types of their items should be deleted, so that this paragraph would read as follows :-

"The equipment comprises a dynamo, switchbox and junction box, a 12 volt 55 ampere-hour accumulator, an ammeter, a 6 cylinder magneto, and the following items of Rolls-Royce manufacture :-"

This was not considered of such importance that it will be necessary to scrap any books that you have already printed, but that it should be incorporated when conveniently possible. Also delete Lucas on p.9 ^9/6^ and Weston Model 301 on p.11.

(b) The second sentence of the first paragraph on p.18 was objected to by Mr. Northey as being too long. We find it very difficult to improve this, but suggest the following :-

"The automatic cut-out is set in the first instance by the makers and should only be touched in exceptional circumstances. There is an unlikely possibility of sparking and consequent pitting at the contacts, causing the cut-out to fail to break. Such will allow the battery to discharge through the dynamo and will be quite
