41118. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From Mx. {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Mx {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 9/T2.5.29. re Chassis No. 122-KR - Barclay for Mr Haywood. In your memo D {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} /BP/HDL/S327.4.29 reference is made to memo CX {Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} 9/M/11.4.29 - we had not seen a copy of this, but we have today obtained one. It would appear, according to this memo, four special side steering tube springs were supplied by Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and fitted by Sales to/89-KR on which chassis the above customer was given a demonstration run; the springs were then removed and returned to the Experimental Dept. The fitting of these special springs appears to have made the steering to the customer's requirements, and it is now suggested that similar springs should be fitted to the side steering tube of 122-KR. We have no definite instructions to depart from our standard in this respect, and in the absence of these instructions we shall put Chassis No.122-KR up to EP {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} for his acceptance, fitted with standard springs to the side steering tube. If it is definitely decided to make an exception in this respect in the case of this chassis, doubtless definite instructions will be issued accordingly.
