Report on bumping test of Front Springs F.4135/8 having rolled eyes on top with second plate carried under eye K.884.

The top plate of these springs is .275 thick and the second plate has square ends and is carried under the eyes. The 900 lbs spring has 13 plates and is 2 1/4" thick, the weight being 33 lbs. A standard spring is the same weight.

The springs were run on the bumping machine over 3" humps at 105 revs per min.

The off side spring broke near the front eye in top plate in 2 hrs 40 mins The near side one broke in top plate near front eye in 7 hrs 33 mins.

The top plates of these springs were supposed to be the same as standard but were actually .025" thicker.
