HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} v u S S To Wcr. from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re Bensport. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}9/27.2.33 You doubtless heard that I arranged last week for C., Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} and Rn.{Mr Robinson} to try the car as I was anxious to have their opinion. I asked them all to give me their views in writing so as to prevent any misunderstanding at a later date and the one which I think will interest you most and of which I enclose a copy is the one from Rn.{Mr Robinson} and in particular I would call your attention to the penultimate paragraph which is a very courteous compliment to all concerned. Referring to paragraph 7 I rather think he is suggesting that this car would do with a higher gear and I should like to have Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s views on this point. On this point PH writes as follows: "I presume that at least one degree of higher geared axle will be available. At present a keen driver could run in to the fundamental axle period if he liked to race down a long stretch. For the same reason the third gear ratio would appear to be too low at present". Re paragraph 9 I mentioned this point to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} but he seemed to think we were all right, but in view of our clutch slipping troubles on 20/25's one rather wonders, and here again I should like to hear from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} on the subject. Re paragraph 10 I am dealing with this matter with Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Re paragraph 11 I imagine that the wheels in question are the ones which Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} told me we were not going to use on the Peregrine and therefore presumably not on the Bensport. I should like to arrange for Rn.{Mr Robinson} to participate in the trials in France but will write to you about this at a later date. I understand when at Brooklands that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} was going to make some tests to show up the effects of the wings and I should be glad to know the results. PH seems to suggest that with the right sort of streamline wings we might get another 5 m.p.h. Enc. Rn.{Mr Robinson}1/WT6.2.33 Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
