20 HP. 2-LEVEL DEVICE IN PETROL TANK.

With reference to the question of the position of the 2-level device in relation to the shape of the body which you indicate on LF.820., we send herewith N.sch. 2612 shewing the position which we should like the 2-level device to occupy for the sake of facility in getting it out, and for symmetry with the K.S. gauge when that is fitted, which we anticipate will be in the immediate future.

With reference to the shapes of body shewn on LF. 820. we do not think that either the red or the white line is possible, and we hope that there will be no bodies made like that.

We notice on the general arrangement of the petrol tank for 'L' series that we are still using the old deep sump and projecting drain plug. As this seriously affects the ground clearance, and a design of a shallower sump for Phantom has been in the hands of Derby for some time, we should like that same sump adapted to the 20 HP. We hope it will be possible to get it at any rate on to the next series.
