X 3908 FUMES IN COVERED BODIES.

We frequently get complaints from customers of the fumes from the engine which get into a covered body. Most of these fumes come from the crankcase breather.
Mr. Royce sometime ago instructed that we should test means of preventing the fumes entering the body. We find on our tests that the most practicable way of dealing with these fumes is to arrange a pipe from the breather to lead them into the inlet of the carburetter and let them be consumed by the engine.
We recommend that a suitable design is got out so that we can satisfy customers who are complaining.
