MR. BROCK. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X235 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/MJ.2.12.29. SHOCK ABSORBERS. ---------------- We are trying to obtain some information of shock absorbers in service. Can you please tell us- (1) Whether you consider the ball bearing is more satisfactory than the plain bearing used on the earlier hydraulic dampers. Also, whether, judging from your experience of the plain bearing on 20 HP. and Phantom 1 shock absorbers, you consider we should be free from trouble on the Phantom 11 shock absorber. The main bearings referred to are those carrying the shock absorber cross main shaft. (2) Since we have tightened up the limits on the links, has the percentage of shock absorbers returned for knocks gone down?. Approximately how many cases of knock complaints occur per month on shock absorbers that have been fitted with close fitting links?. (3) Have you ever had a case of/shock absorber being returned to you for knocks that was fitted with drilled high pressure valves?. (4) Are there any other features on the shock absorbers at present in production which you think could be improved?. Will you please let us have this information as soon as possible as the shock absorbers are about to be re-designed. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
