BURNEY "CHORDAL" ENGINE.

Referring to your recent 'phone request, we have had a search made of Patent Office records on the above as far back as 1935 in the name of Sir Dennistoun Burney.

We give hereunder our Agents report :-

"There are no patents in his name up to 1937.
In 1938 there is an application, No. 34004, jointly with British Automotive Products Limited, dated 22nd November 1938, relating to "Internal-Combustion Engines".

In 1939 and 1940 we have found the following applications :

No. 21905/39, dated 28th July, jointly with Brodway Automotive Products Limited, relating to "Combustion Chambers of Internal-Combustion Engines";

No. 21906/39, dated 28th July, relating to "Internal-Combustion Engines";

No. 21907/39, dated 28th July 1939, relating to "Internal-Combustion Engines".

In 1940 there is No. 10515/40, dated 18th June, jointly with Brodway Automotive Products Limited, relating to "Internal-Combustion Engines".

There are no applications listed for 1941, yet.

All these applications are still pending in the Patent Office and no further information is obtainable concerning them.

The first one, No. 34004/38, would normally have been published by now, but it has not been published and is not marked as void, and it must, therefore, be assumed that it has been made secret under the war-time regulations.

The three applications in 1939 would normally be due for publication towards the end of this month, or early next month, and the 1940 application need not be published until the end of this year.
