amount of detonation when picking up at low speeds is not excessive considering the mileage which the car has covered without decarbonisation. It can be entirely eliminated by retarding the ignition lever five notches on the quadrant.

BIJUR LUBRICATION - We should say that this now works very well. Naturally as run in France all the suspension parts of the car have the maximum amount of work to do for the oil they receive, and we are in consequence adopting a generous policy, with the quantity of oil supplied.

TRANSMISSION - The axle has, of course, failed but is not put forward for standardisation. The propeller shaft universal joints are 100% having lost no oil during the whole of the running.

EXHAUST SYSTEM - The initial trouble due to the expansion now seems to have been entirely overcome. The body amplifies an exhaust boom on the overrun, 50 40 M.P.H. We have a design for a front expansion box as on P.II which may improve this point. It has always been a feature that one could criticise on the standard 25 HP. car.

SUSPENSION - The increased shock damper loading and lubricated springs seem to produce an ideal suspension for fast touring on good roads. The damping could probably with advantage be reduced for English conditions as the car appears to ride harshly at low speeds, but the body is in such advanced stage of disintegration that rattles are likely to distort ones impressions.

COACHWORK - This body, which has now done 25,000 miles in France is full of rattles.

FRONT WINGS & BRACKETS - This is the only feature of the chassis for which R.R. is responsible that is disappointing, in fact a complete failure. In all
