RE COLLETT EZETITE TERMINALS FOR IGNITION COIL HIGH TENSION LEAD. Some trouble has been experienced on experimental cars due to the above type terminals having insufficient grip on the high-tension lead, with the result that on with-drawing the H.T. wire from the ignition coil, the terminal is left behind at the bottom of the chimney. On examination we find the fault is due to in-sufficient clearance at the split, thus allowing the edges to butt together and so prevent the tongues from gripping the rubber; and at the same time making the terminal excessiv-ely tight in its socket. These terminals can be made to function satisfactorily by cutting a thin strip off one edge. We also note that only three of the four tongues are bent inwards. We think this should be taken up with the makers. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} | ||
