Rolls-Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. Dear Robotham, You will recollect visiting our Works earlier this year for the purpose of discussion on C.I. engines. Mr. Spurrier Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} has now returned from his world tour, and I do not doubt that he feels he would like to have some talk with you on the question of developments. One case in point is the question of the new combustion chamber which you have developed, and which we believe has been adopted under licence by Messrs. Wellworthy. We have received today from the people concerned drawings of a piston to be adapted to our overhead valve Cub engine, but I am not quite sure as to the exact functioning of this particular form of chamber. Wellworthy's are making up a special set of pistons to try out in one of our engines, but I would very much appreciate hearing from you as to whether this combustion chamber is looked upon as being superior to the Watmough, and what results you have had when applying it on engines of the conventional bath-tub head type. With kind regards, Yours faithfully, Milkington | ||
