R.R. 438 A (150 11) (V.V. 985. 25.2.14) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 0363. From Exp. Dept. Copies for: R.{Sir Henry Royce} J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Ha. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/EH/1/B17314. March 17th. 1914. Report on new type bonnet, I 622 and bonnet clips, X. 1140. When we were testing 2704 car before it went away the bonnet used to rattle badly when going over a bumping road, it was worse than the standard in that respect. I think a lot of it was due to the slack between the top tube of the bonnet and the bush fixed to the dash-board, when going along the road one could watch the movement taking place there. I consider to keep the bonnet from rattling it is essential that the top tube of the bonnet should be held firm, as we rely on that for locating the bonnet sideways. The bonnet clips themselves were satisfactory and easier to work than the present type. We only had this bonnet in our hands a short time, so we cannot say anything as regards absence of wear which is the great advantage we hope to get. X 1140 | ||
