To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} c. By/CS. c. LA.{L. A. Archer} c. NW.{N. Walker - Patents} 300. PHANTOM III IGNITION TIMING. There has been a request to have a common ignition setting for the A and B side distributors in place of the existing two positions, i.e. 13° Before TDC for A side and 15° before TDC for B side. This was originally done to obtain synchronism of power whether running on A or B side distributor only. The difference, however, when set on a common mark is so little as to be negligible and therefore as the common setting is of advantage in case of timing, we agree that this should be adopted and the necessary mods. to the flywheel marking and the instruction book be carried out. The recommended common setting should be 15° Before TDC and reading A and B A.I, i.e. A side and B side advanced ignition which will thus delete the present A side marking at 13° before TDC.
