R.{Sir Henry Royce} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 47060 E4/M22.2.28. EAC.10 CYL: HEAD. X.7050 X.7060 We send herewith blueprint of Lec.2509 shewing the instructions sent to Derby for the cyl. head. The question of valve sizes will be discussed in a separate memo. but all the valve passages have been kept up to 1.9" bore. In this layout the valve rockers are all straight and interchangeable - i.e. the push rods being on the same centres as the valves, but not equi-distant on each side of the cyl. centre, owing to the unequal sizes of the valves. The valve gear is of the 20 HP. ty-pe, but with an adjustable ball end on the lever. It is a moot point whether one of the adjustments cannot be cancelled. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
