To overcome failures. Experimental Test Report. We have had quite a number of steering boxes fail. In nearly all cases it has been proved the car has been in an accident. There have been instances, however, that the only damage has been the steer-ing box and the car has been driven on without the driver realising the danger. Road Test Report. This alteration consists of changing the material of the steering box from aluminium to aluminium-bronze. It must certainly make a stronger box. No road tests so far. Signature of Exp. Dept. that above is correct. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hives. Weight of Old Part. Cost of Old Part. £ 1. 0. 0 Weight of New Part. Cost of New Part. £ 1. 9. 3 Difference per Car. Mr. ROYCE, 15.12.22, X I do not yet agree for reasons given in other letter. What would be the extra weight? Can we not strengthen the aluminium box ? Mr. WORMALD, 15.12.22, Agreed. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Mr. BARRINGTON, 29.12.22, Agreed. Rg.{Mr Rowledge} Mr. DAY, I should think the better plan would be to strengthen the aluminium box building up its strength by a gradual process of elimination as soon as a breaking test has been found. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Mr. BAILEY, 13.12.22, Agreed. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Mr. PLATFORD, 13.12.22, Agreed on behalf of EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} (J.A.
