Mr. Skelton borrowed one copy of this. x346 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} RUBBER SHACKLES ON THE PHANTOM lll. Leslie has given me the following cost figures in connection with the springs for the rubber shackles on the Phantom lll. We know that you have always been in favour of the solid eye but in view of the cost of the Phantom lll we do not think we are justified in increasing the cost of the rear springs of the car by £2. 3. 0d. per chassis. We have all the experience of the Cadillac with the rolled eye and we have already run many hours on rolled eye springs ourselves without the slightest trouble so we recommend that we should order rolled eye top leaves for the Phantom lll and carry out tests in parallel.
