Motor Car Development. In particular relation to RR.

1) The most startling motorcar development of the past ten years has been the metamorphosis of the American cars from rather cumbersome tin black-beetles to their present stage.
In sheer numbers, "Styling", value for money and- real technical advancement - this movement has been phenomenal.
Features of the movement have been -
So-called "streamlining"
Elimination of a number of external gadgets and excrescences.
Springing for comfort.
Moving the passenger-space forward on the wheels.
Weight-saving, i.e. a car of 3000 lbs kerb weight now has the comfort and accommodation of earlier cars of 4000-5000 lbs.
General intensive study and improvement in the factors of silence, performance, and fuel economy.
