Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X3900 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M3.10.27. SUSPENSION. X.3900 X.8410 X.4429 In reply to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}2/LG30.9.27., we return herewith Mr. Olley's notes on road springs. Mr. Royce wishes us to get some springs made on these lines, and tested, for comparison with the present system. We intended to design a set of springs here, but it appears to us that the quickest results will be obtained by persuading Firth's to design and manufacture some springs on these lines, as anything that we do is sure to be modified to some extent or other by Firth's. At the same time we should be much obliged if you could send us a copy of CY's notes with photostat figures, for reference in case we should wish to pursue the matter. We may say that WW. have advocated for years the method of making springs in which the overlap is varied with each thickness of plate. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
