RE PHANTOM CARBURETTER. 78080

We have noticed that the carburetters which have been fitted lately with the 18° throttle valve and modified spray chamber have an increased suction noise. This is noticeable when pulling at medium speeds with small throttle opening. We have found that the 18° throttle valve is responsible for 80% of the increased suction noise, the remaining 20% being due to the modified spray chamber. The suction noise is much harsher than usual. We have tried several experiments to reduce the amount of noise, but have not been successful.

We also note that the throttle valve is more prone to whistling and it will be necessary to make sure that the corners of the valve are rounded off, also that the slot in spindle is to drawing size, otherwise there will be trouble with the above.
