X5840 G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} W. Hancock, Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. To GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/MJ.18.3.30. You will see by the attached note that it has been arranged that the car shall stay out in France until it has completed 14,000 miles. This we hope will give you an opportunity of proving out the new parts. We have already sent you a modified manifold, and today we are expecting to send off a pipe with the sliding joint and also the bracket for fixing it on to the frame. We wish this bracket to be fixed before the car is run with the new pipe. It is difficult for us to understand what has happened to the exhaust valve. Could you make any suggestions?. We are certain the the exhaust valve material is better than the old material when used under the same conditions. We recommend that you carefully check the tappet clearance after each run and see how much this varies. We should also like you to send us back a sample of the valves which you have had to replace.
