X4080. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ROY{Sir Henry Royce}9/MG6.11.30 RECEIVED 13 NOV 1930 Dunlop Tyres The Dunlop Company advise that a modified tread for the Dunlop Silent Tyres used by this Company has been approved by the Experimental Department, and state they propose altering the various moulds to conform thereto. This of course will put them to certain expense, as at present we are the only firm asking for such a modified Silent Tread, and they ask us to give them some information as to our probable requirements, so that they can arrive at the necessary mould equipment. If this is correct, doubtless the necessary Standardisation Sheet will be circulated shortly. Meantime, as you are probably aware, I would state that although the present Silent Tread is used on most of our Chassis, the old nobbly tread is still specified by the Sales Department in certain instances.
