Hermetic Works,
Ryland Street,
Birmingham.

Dear Sirs,

We have now run eight of the couplings mentioned in your letter of November the 8th, 1930.

The couplings fitted with distance pieces between the plates have not proved very successful. The others, however, with the rivetted plates put on by yourselves have given quite a promising life though not appreciably better than we could obtain from the couplings we are already using as standard.

We are sending to you under separate cover a fabric coupling which has failed, in order that you may see the nature of the collapse which appears to take place down the centre of the fabric.

If, as a result of examining these couplings, you have any further modification to submit for test, we shall be pleased to try them out.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
