To: Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From: G.W.H. X7941 90 Hôtel de France, Châteauroux, Indre. February 5th, 1929. We hope Brazier got the car through the Customs at Southampton. The Customs papers got mixed up with 18-EX. This was sent on to Southampton to the R.A.C. Officials from Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence, therefore if any trouble had arose, they will be able to straighten it out. Re 19-EX Dodd has not got English Customs papers and says that you did not give him any. There are only the French Tryptique and Customs papers. Will you please therefore let me have the English Customs papers as soon as possible. We presume the car is taken out in your name. 19-EX car has got the same symptoms as 18-EX, i.e. a very rough period at 70 M.P.H. and upwards, on the retard down to 65. The torque reaction is no better, and generally speaking 18-EX is a better car. Please note the rear brakes are just as inefficient on 19-EX as 18-EX. Propeller shaft vibrations at 42 M.P.H. very pronounced when cold. Mechanic joints loose oil. Same symptoms of oil loss from rear of engine. 18-EX was 50% better for this feature. We will give you further details when I arrive. G.W.H. | ||
