DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG13.11.28. BODY SUBFRAMES. X5380 X7380 X8380 Over four years ago we went to a lot of trouble to demonstrate to Sales and the C.B.C. the advantages of the subframe for reducing body noises. Attached herewith is a copy of their own report which confirms that they were convinced of the advantages. We have had 7 or 8 experimental cars fitted with subframes and have had experience with them for 4 1/2 years. The cars have run well over 50,000 miles in France, and considerably more than that in England. We are convinced the advantages of the subframe are (1) reduction in body noise (2) enables the completely finished body to be fitted to the chassis (your recent car 12-G-4 was completed in a week - this included painting the chassis) (3) enables at any time for the body to be easily detached, and re-fitted to the chassis without damage (4) it ensures that the floor level of the body is kept in the correct position as the floorboards are fitted to the subframe. We have seen cases where the floor is unnecessarily high which has raised the whole body and seats. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
