Further to our telegram and Daily Report, the head came off N° 7 KE.965 Exhaust valve during yesterday's running. It was fitted in place of the S/SLV valve that failed before, and has run 7,700 miles. It will be recalled that during this mileage N° 7 valve spring broke. The head of the valve has gone. The piston is broken and the cylinder rather scored. We have dressed it up ready for fitting a new piston when received. The inlet valve is knocked about and needs replacing. N° 4 Connecting rod and big end bearing in A.C.6.S. are in good condition. ----------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/IMW.{Ivan M.
