Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}

Referring to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/AP.9.1.36 I should be glad if you would go carefully through this list with a view to seeing whether the time has now come when you can dispense with some of these cars.

40/50's. One wonders whether 29-EX, i.e. the Vulture, is still serving any useful purpose.

I believe that this car is really a mongrel and that, if you have finished with it, the best thing to do with it is to scrap it, because it is so far removed from standard.

With regard to P.III's, I am not of course suggesting that you can dispense with any of these as I know you have been very short.

31-EX was the car which was smashed up in France and I should be glad to know what is happening about this. Is some of it being salvaged and being built up into a new chassis and, if so, will it be given the same number or is it a complete write-off?

20/25's. I understand that GAE-20 was not used and Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} has written to you about its return to Sales. You have, however, a new chassis in its place which is now numbered 22-G-IV. This, therefore, means that altogether you have five 20/25's and, in view of the stage at which the 25/30 engine development work has now arrived, here again one wonders whether you still want all these cars.

Bentley's. You have six and, as mentioned above in connection with the 25/30, i.e. the stage at which development work of the big bore has arrived, one wonders whether you still need all these.

We shall very badly want next week a car we can use for trials with the 4¼-litre engine, and Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} is, I understand, writing to you to find out if we can have B-23-AE which has got the Vanvooren body, to keep us going temporarily until we can bring through a new trials car, but, if we had this, it still leaves you with five.

Re the Cadillac, is this still used for comparative
