- 2 - CONNECTING RODS LOP.EB.864 - LEC.3559. The journal bearing were generally in a good condition. There was several spots where the metal had crumpled up and when taken apart fell out. The oil pipes were intact and firmly attached to the rods. CYLINDERS LOP.EB.309 The cylinder bores were in a very good condition. There was no score marks, lubrication had been ample. We have had no trouble with water leaks. The joint gasket had not deteriorated. VALVES AND FITTINGS LOP.EB.141-LEC.3680. Exhaust valves KE 905 - Stellite tips. There has been no appreciable loss in the valve clearances. N°2 & 4 exhaust lost .002; N°3 inlet lost .002; N°2 inlet increased by .002 during the total mileage. Upon dismantling, the inlet valves were found to have a fair amount of carbon on the under side. The seatings were in a good condition. The valve stems were amply lubricated no appreciable wear had taken place. The exhaust valve seats and seatings were pitted. The valves also showed bottoming on the valve seatings. The inner bore is not large enough to allow for wear. The valve stems and guides were in a good condition. VALVE SPRINGS EB.175. No fracture has occured in any one of the springs. There has been no undue period of swishing noise. There has been no valve bounce at maximum speeds. Valve noise generally spoken of as tappet noise. There has been several valves noisy when seating, this has remained consistant throughout the mileage. Valve clearances set, Exhaust .006"; Inlet .004". | ||
