Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X.4219 - BUMPER TEST ON GOSHAWK 11. We have completed 20 hours running with the front of the Goshawk chassis on the Bumper Rig. The test is now held up until we can obtain some more front springs which are promised for early next week. We attach herewith a list of parts which have broken. The top leaves of the front springs have all broken in the same place. The fractures have occurred at the point where the sheath which has been added and which is held down by the spring leaves. When we fit the next springs we are altering the sheath so that it does not extend beyond the spring clips. The steering levers have broken in identically the same place. We are sending samples of the fractured parts to Mr. Royce. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
