PHANTOM 111 - DYNAMO WITH SPEED INCREASED TO 1 1/2 TIMES ENGINE SPEED.

Please receive E.CD.551 Dynamo Drive 1 1/2 x engine speed - Phantom 111.

This is the standard Phantom 111 dynamo unit shown with the speed increased from 1 1/4 engine speed to 1 1/2 engine speed, the only new part for the dynamo drive being the smaller pinion.

The water pump speed and position is, of course, altered along with the dynamo, and we have found it necessary to alter the water pump casing and cover to get the pump closer to the engine as demanded by the new gear centres of the drive. Further particulars of the water pump will also be shown on a later design.

The crankcase is considerably altered, and we have made a detail drawing of the crankcase to suit this design, which also includes the necessary modifications for the revised starter motor D.CD.401, the modifications to suit revised steering gear E.CD.590, and the modifications to suit the deletion of the oil temperature regulator E.CD.296. This detail drawing has been handed to BY/CS. for numbering and issue.

The water return pipe from hot spot will require a slight alteration to suit revised pump position.

Will you please detail and instruct the necessary parts experimentally, as it is hoped to get this tried out on the next 15,000 miles test with a view to standardising for series 'E'.

We would also point out that the wheelcase should be modified to suit the altered shape of the front facing of crankcase.
