(Handwritten: X7200 / X7190) The oil level indicator as at present instructed does not give a correct indication of the quantity of oil in the engine. When registering 1 1/2 galls. there is only 1 1/4 galls. in the engine, the remaining markings on the quadrant being correspondingly incorrect. The simplest method of correcting this is to add weight to the cork float, and alter the markings on the indicator quadrant. (We [strikethrough: atxixipake] attempted to correct it by increasing the length of the strip to which the float is attached, but too great an increase is required - the float fouls the filter pot). The weight which must be added to the float to enable the indicator to register within the limits allowed by the present design is .4 ozs. This can conveniently be arranged by adding two 18 gauge sheet aluminium discs one at each side of the cork float, using longer rivets to suit. The marking required on the indicator quadrant is then as given herewith - it is only slightly altered from the present. We do not think there is an easier method of correcting this error.
