To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X7270 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/1G29.11.28. 'SS{S. Smith}' FAILURE OF STARTING HANDLE E.78308. We have, in turning the engine over by hand, sheared the two pins that hold the serrated end piece in the starting handle shaft. The drawing does not call for brazing of this piece It would appear that it will be necessary. We should also like to point out that the painting of the spindle makes it drag very badly in engaging etc. Would it not be possible to have the spindle plated to overcome this?
