To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RMC. re Phantom Crankcases. We send you herewith LeC.3480 showing improvements to the central bearing of the crankcase, in which we have altered the ribs and webs different from the other bearings. This has come about due to the fact that the 8 litre engine has broken down owing to a crack developing at the corner where the cap is located, and it slopes upwards at an angle of 45°. The strengthened main bearing caps, to LeC.3422 should be used in conjunction with this drawing. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} | ||
