DESIGN FOR CENTRAL LAMP SCHEME. Referring to your Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}/Hdyll/JL13.5.30, I took this matter up again with Mr.Elliott just before his return to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town. Owing to great pressure of other work I am afraid the design of the R.R. switch has not yet been put in hand, but Mr.Elliott promised that he would look into the matter after his return and let me know definitely whether we should push Messrs.Lucas to produce an improved design of their switch. Mr.Thacker of Messrs.Lucas was with me the other day, and on mentioning these various matters to him he explained that to get Lucas's to do anything which is out of the ordinary run of matters on which they are so busily engaged, one must put considerable pressure by writing them very frequently and pointing out the necessity and urgency of the job. Until we get a decision from Mr.Elliott however, we cannot reasonably ask Messrs.Lucas to put themselves out on a switch that we may not be using even temporarily. We are pleased to hear that you have stopped supplying the Court foot switch. We have always maintained that this was very unsuitable for putting on an R.R. car. EFC. | ||
