The speedometer on this car is 5% slow. the normal Bentley speedometer is 5% fast. 2. One reason why the gearbox is noisy is because the needle roller bearings on the side shaft are beginning to fail. The car has done 36,000 miles and the normal life of these bearings with a 4 1/4 litre engine is 25,000 miles. The re-designed box is Timkins. 3. The carburation is all right but the consumption is all wrong. We know how to make it 15% better. Apart from these points, I myself think that 12.B.V. is a very nice car. It has literally not had a spanner on it since it was built with the exception of the head being removed to measure bore wear. p.p. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
