UNDER-FRAME.

We send herewith LeC. 1995. shewing an improved type of change speed lever shaft which we think will not have the characteristic of binding which obtained with the existing design with bronze bush sliding in the aluminium. We wish you to note that we do not require this scheme instructed to the Exp. Dept. until it is sanctioned by R.{Sir Henry Royce}, to whom we have forwarded a print today.

We would call your attention to the modified inner shaft which we consider might now be made from a swaged tube, and also to the fact that the outer tube is now turned from square bar. This we understand is less expensive than producing a piece from brazed up components.
