-2- comes into any of our Repair Departments or Depots for overhaul or repair, or on such occasions as these springs have to be disturbed for any purpose whatever. We also wish to press forward the importance of some better lubricators or better lubricator scheme being used for these shackles. We find in some cases we are unable to force grease through the shackles by the present lubricators, as although we can force home the lubricator cap we find that most of it leaks past the thread and any air there may be in the oil passage is compressed so that when the lubricator cap is taken off the re-fill it practically fills itself by the return of the grease from the part which has been lubricated. In the initial oiling of the car we feel that this can only be done satisfactorily by the use of strong grease gun with a plunge worked by a screw. EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
