COPY OF A LETTER RECEIVED FROM Mr. PARNELL. Automotive Products Co.Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa. 4th. November, 1940. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Bastow. In reply to your letter of the 31st. October, we think it would be an excellent idea if you could arrange to come to Leamington and discuss the points raised in detail. We hope also, to be able to show you an 11" Brake Assembly. We would suggest you come early next week, preferably Monday or Tuesday, 11th. or 12th. instant, perhaps you would let us know which is convenient. The normal rotation of the drum, as shown in the left hand view of PR.652, is clockwise and not anti-clockwise as you suggest. The shoe factor, forward direction, is calculated at about 4 : 1 maybe slightly higher in service. The shoe factor, in reverse direction, being about 5% lower. We note that you are anxious to reduce the pedal pressure on the Myth, and would say our latest calculations, on the Rippletto, give a pedal pressure for 'G' stop of 128 lb. on the pedal, and for the Myth 121 lb. As it is possible, the shoe factor will be slightly higher than that allowed for, we do not think the actual performance will be very far from your suggest figure. We think it would perhaps be better to leave the other points raised in your letter until we have the pleasure of meeting you here. Yours faithfully, AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS COMPANY LTD. F.G. Parnell (Signed). | ||
