. Dear Sirs,

In reply to your letter of the 16th inst. ref. HGB/BC. we give below the answers to your queries :-

(1) The speed range at which the dynamo has been driven varied from 0 to 5,000 R.P.M. mostly at speeds between 2,000 and 4500.

(2) The tests were carried out both on the road and also on the bench. The failure occurred on the road.

(3) The complete load was approx. 120 watts and the battery capacity 12 volt 80 ampere hours.

(4) It is rather difficult to make a statement as to the period of time during which the dynamo ran on open circuit as it was not realised in the darkness that the dynamo had ceased to charge for a considerable time We should estimate the open circuit time at about roughly 3 hours.

We hope this information will enable you to arrive at your conclusions and we now await your report.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
