7th. June, 1939.

Messrs. Ferodo Ltd.,
Chapel-en-le-Frith.

For the attention of Mr. Longley.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of June 3rd. confirming the suspicions we had with regard to the later supplies of VG.90 material and regrets for the substitution of VG.91.

While we are very relieved to have discovered the basic cause of our recent troubles which you state were not due to carelessness, you do not explain why the material was marked VG.90 and rather make it appear that the change in composition was deliberate and that we were not notified as you considered the small difference in composition would have little or no effect.

We must point out that it was entirely due to the behaviour of the material on recent cars that the mistake was brought to light.

However, we accept your apologies and assurance that this will not happen again and in order to remove the trouble we are now in, we are sending an order for 24 discs in VG.90 to replace those actually giving trouble and of which we are suspicious.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
