We send herewith LeC.5630, sheets 1 and 2, showing the main outline of the application of the Wraith III front suspension to the Bentley III. These drawings give a full sized view of the front end of the frame shown also on LeC.5629. We have kept the centre line of the front wheels in the same position relative to the centre line of the first cylinder as on Wraith III so that the high engine mounting of Wraith III can be used. The modifications to the front suspension consist chiefly in a new front pan necessitated in order to maintain the present Bentley track which is approximately 2 ins. less than that of Wraith III, and also a new yoke piece to enable us to lower the front pan and suspension pots in order to maintain the present radiator. Without doing this it would have been necessary to raise the bottom of the radiator relative to the road as compared with the present Bentley, which feature would not be acceptable. We shall be supplying you with schemes of these modified parts and of the new Bentley III radiator in the course of a very short while. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Att: LeC.5630 (2 sheets). | ||
