C o p y From THE TEXAS OIL COMPANY LTD. ASR/DMB 6th November 1934 Dear Sirs, You will no doubt remember correspondence which passed between Mr. Mead-King and myself and which led to my having a talk with you over the telephone regarding the question of your Company's approval of one of our products for use in their automobile engines; and you write me on 23rd April last that due to pressure on your Experimental Department at the moment it was not possible to undertake the exhaustive tests necessary. I find on reference to our files that back in 1925 you wrote us confirming that your Springfield works in the U.S.A recommended our Texaco Heavy Motor Oil for engine lubrication of Rolls-Royce cars. Due to this Company's constant research all our standard grades of oil have been considerably improved since that date, and I am wondering whether it would now be possible for you to arrange for our oil to be tested with a view to its use being approved by the Rolls-Royce Company here. Although I fully appreciate that some inconvenience may be caused your Company in making this test, yet the matter is one of considerable moment so far as we are concerned, due to the fact that we market our lubricants not only here but in practically every country throughout the world - in many of which countries engines of your manufacture are in use. For instance, we have just received a letter from our Danish Company stating that they have submitted quotations to the Danish Army for lubricating oils, but that as our Airplane Oil is not approved by your Company that particular quotation cannot be considered. I should very much appreciate it if you could arrange to give me a little time if I come to Derby, as in view of the many approvals we already hold - and the fact that our Airplane Oil meets the Air Ministry Specification D.T.D.109, your Company might possibly see their way to approve this Oil without making any very lengthy tests. Yours truly THE TEXAS OIL COMPANY,LIMITED (sgd) A.S.Runacres Sales Manager. | ||
